Gin

Gin is flavored vodka. The most usual production method for gin is to distill botanicals, such as juniper, coriander, citrus peel, cinnamon, almond or liquorice, with neutral grain alcohol. Making gin is like flavoring vodka, except that botanicals are always natural.

For those unfamiliar with drinking gin, it could be an intimidating liquor to get into. Due to its complex flavors (most are made with at least 10 botanicals), it's not as often mixed into fruity drinks like, say, vodka or rum. Gin can be enjoyed on the rocks or straight, and is most commonly mixed with tonic water, soda water, or ginger ale. These mixers are neutral enough in taste that you can still enjoy the unique flavor of the liquor while adding carbonation that can ease the bite of each sip. It can also be made in a martini with vermouth, if that's more your style.
